Amy Ellison is a journalist and writer based in New York City. In 2024, she earned her Master's in Journalism from NYU's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, concentrating in Magazine and Digital Storytelling. During her time in the program, she reported and wrote across a range of formats, covering culture, technology, and politics. Her graduate work includes an immersive reported piece on Character AI and the parasocial relationships users form with chatbots, and a reported piece on the viral sticky note campaign that spread across the country ahead of the 2024 election.

Most recently, Amy was a Contributing Writer at Time Out New York, where she covered the city's arts, culture, and food scenes. Her features there include a first look inside Meadow Lane, NYC's TikTok-famous gourmet grocer; a profile of a local scent sommelier helping New Yorkers find their signature fragrance; and coverage of NYC's largest Monet show in 25 years. Prior to that, she interned at TV Guide Magazine, and contributed entertainment coverage to their sister site TV Insider.

Amy graduated from Elon University in 2023 with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in Creative Writing. She got her start as a student journalist at Elon's magazine, The Edge, where she reported on campus life and the pandemic's toll on students—including a story on what it was like to be quarantined at Elon as COVID cases surged on campus. By the end of her junior year, she had been promoted to Features Editor.

Amy also writes personal essays, which you can find here.
