Jason Kelce Drank 40 Beers… and Met Taylor Swift

On Wednesday’s new episode of the Kelce duo podcast New Heights, the 36-year-old Eagles player gave us his point of view on what went down in the celebrity suite last Sunday during the Chiefs-Bills game. This was Jason’s first time watching his little brother play this season, and the first time meeting his new girlfriend–Taylor Swift.

“Here’s what happened,” Jason says. “I wanted to take my shirt off at the tailgate and because we kind of got pushed back on the tailgate front, I didn’t get to have my shirt off out there. And then, when I entered the box, I noticed, ‘Hey, I could jump out of this box and I’ll be outside.’”

So, Jason’s first impression on Taylor consisted of him shirtless in the stands and mingling with booing Bill’s fans. He also (adorably) lifted up a mini Swiftie and her “I heart Taylor Swift” sign to get Taylor’s attention. “This is how my mind works after… 40 Miller Lites,” says Jason.

“She [Jason’s wife] was already telling me to be on my best behavior because we were meeting Taylor,” Jason recaps. “This is part of the Jason Kelce charm. I want to make my best first impression… This is my best chance.” Apparently, the definition of a good first impression is subjective.

The Chiefs-Bills game was Taylor’s eleventh time attending a football game this season, letting the Swifties and football bros finally have something in common to talk about.

And this wasn’t the first time we got to see a meeting of Swifts and Kelces on live television. Swift’s parents and Kelce’s parents hung out together at the Chiefs-Raiders game on Christmas day.

“We're sitting in the suite, she gets up and in the front room, she gets up to go get a drink or something and she starts picking up empty bottles, cans, plates that are scattered around," Kelce's father, Ed, told PEOPLE back in December. “And I'm just thinking, I don't think she got the diva memo.”

Taylor’s recent and recurrent presence in the football stands has caused some controversy among NFL fans. Taylor briefly spoke about it in her TIME'S Person of the Year article: “I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”

But nothing, not loser football dudes, or bad jokes at the Golden Globes can get in the way of Taylor showing up for Travis.

“Taylor and Travis are doing really well,” ET reports. “They try to spend as much time as they can together. Travis also makes it a point to make sure Taylor feels as comfortable as possible at his home. They have discussed their future as a couple and are excited at the idea of it.”

Now, everyone from the Swift-Kelce families have met. Plus, Jason somehow won Taylor over: “Tay says she absolutely loved you,” Travis tells him during the podcast.
